Former Brunswick police officer indicted in hidden camera case

A former Brunswick city police officer was indicted Friday by a Glynn County grand jury on charges of using a hidden camera to spy on a minor girl in her bedroom.

Kirk Murdock, according to the indictment, faces two counts, invasion of privacy and second degree cruelty to children.The indictment says Murdock placed a pinhole camera in the bedroom of a girl under 18 and watched her without her consent, which caused her “cruel and excessive mental pain.

”Murdock joined the Brunswick Police Department in November 2012, according to the department’s Facebook page. The crimes occurred sometime between March 1 and July 20, the indictment states.The Brunswick police issued a statement saying the former officer was indicted for being a “peeping tom.”

“This officer was terminated several months ago when the incident was reported,’’ the statement said.The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said it investigated the incident at the request of the police department.
