A former Pierce County deputy sheriff pleaded guilty Wednesday to providing protection for what he thought was illegal methamphetamine deals.
Randy Strickland, 55, told Senior U.S. District Judge William Moore that he believed he was providing security for drug deals.
When Moore asked for more details, Strickland said he knew the confidential informant who claimed to have wanted to get into methamphetamine dealing. Strickland said he agreed to protect the man that he believed to be a drug dealer should the transaction go bad.
