A task force on consolidating St. Marys police with the county Sheriff’s Office has concluded the costs would far outweigh the benefits.
The St. Marys Police Consolidation Task Force’s job was to review a study by the International City/County Management Association, or ICMA, that was made public in December.
The ICMA report clearly stated that $800,000 could be saved by merging St. Marys’ police operations with those of the sheriff.
Task force members, though, thought that math was fuzzy or incomplete.
