Special to SEGAZINE
While most of Pierce County was sleeping in the wee hours of Saturday morning, nearly 40 law enforcement officers were not.
Sheriff Ramsey Bennett, Blackshear Police Chief Chris Wright, their officers, and a cadre of personnel swept across the county, starting at 4:37 a.m., to execute “Operation Spring Cleaning.”
With a half-dozen “no knock” warrants in hand, six motorcades carrying deputies, patrol officers, Georgia State Patrol troopers, state probation officers — and even one young female college criminal justice intern — moved through the darkness toward unsuspecting, sleeping suspects.
In less than an hour, ten men and women were en route to the Pierce County jail facing a variety of charges involving drug sales. See Wednesday’s issue of The Blackshear Times for photos and details.
