Missing Brantley man found alive

Special to SEGAZINE

A Brantley County man missing since Thursday has been found alive and well.

Eddie Jones, 71, was discovered about 9:45 today, near a creek about 400 yards behind his residence on Knox Drive, where he had apparently been hiding from those searching for him, according to Brantley County Sheriff Jack Whisenant.

He was found by a K-9 and dog handler Angela Batten of Dog South  in Jesup.

We are pleased that Eddie is OK and we are grateful to all the volunteers who gave their time and efforts in the search,” Whisenant said.

Jones had been missing since about 9:30 Thursday and was the subject of a massive manhunt that included local law-enforcement officials as well as volunteer fire departments and area residents.

I praise and thank God that Eddie was found alive and safe. My husband and have always knew Eddie to be a sweet king Godly man. He was always caring and loved people. Learning to read the bible was important to him.
