Charles Riley “Chuck” Thrift, 33, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance schedule II (crystal methamphetamine), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during certain crimes and possession and use of drug related objects after a high-speed chase on Hortense-Screven Road.
Thrift and the unidentified driver led deputies on a high speed chase into Wayne County and fled the scene on foot, after leaving their vehicle on Nebraska Road in Wayne County. Thrift was later apprehended by deputies in the woods just off Hortense-Screven Road.
In other activity:
• Deputies responded to the area of the 15000 block of Georgia Highway 32 East in reference to terroristic threats and acts. The complainant stated the offender rode by the residence and threatened bodily harm.
• Deputies responded to the area of Buster Walker Road and Georgia Highway 110 East in reference to a vehicle fire. The complainant said the vehicle had caught on fire earlier and then re-ignited in the wiring harness under the dash.
• Deputies responded to the area of the 26000 block of U.S. Hwy 82 East in reference to terrorist threats and acts and harassing phone calls. The complainant stated the offenders had made threatening gestures toward him and had been sending insulting text messages.
