Special to the Enterprise
Golden Isles Arts & Humanities has awarded the $500 Roberta M. Born Scholarship in the arts and humanities Anissa McKenna, a 2013 graduate of Brunswick High School. The scholarship is named in honor of Roberta Born, who served as a board member for the organization and who was a Glynn County educator who had a strong understanding of the importance of the arts and the arts in education.
“Anissa is the ideal candidate to receive this scholarship,” said Board Member, Jim DeLong. “She is accomplished in both music and visual arts while maintaining high grades with challenging coursework. Her goal to pursue music both in performance and in education is commendable. She has the passion and commitment to make it in this field and the board is pleased to present her with this scholarship to help her achieve her goals.” Anissa is the daughter of Irma and John McKenna and will be attending the University of Arizona in the fall.
The Roberta Born Scholarship is made possible with the support of a donation from the Eugenia Price/Joyce Blackburn Foundation.
